Found out that there’s something called neuroaesthetics, this rather complicated word is the name of the relatively new research field that wants to uncover what happens in the brain when art is observed or created.
One of the most popular experiments was conducted by neuroscientist Semir Zeki, he wanted to know what happened in the brain when looking at beautiful art. The results were that the activity in the area of the brain related to pleasure was increased. Even more awesome was that when viewers saw art that they considered super beautiful, blood flow boosted as much as 10% in the brain, which also happens when we look at a loved one!
I guess the majority of population think that art might be beneficial for health but in recent years there is scientific evidence that proves it.
My personal-particular-humble point of view is that these findings combat the frivolous and superfluous aspect of art and let me experience it as a way to access well being and not like a pretentious luxury.

Here are the links where I read about wonderful neuroaesthetics, enjoy!
